About two months ago I heard about a seller selling some pretty good quality Sigma Sigmax brush dupes on ebay. So of course I checked it out. As soon as I saw the price, I snapped that deal up. US$17 for 10 brushes, what's the worst that could happen? The brushes took about three weeks to arrive (after instant paypal payment) and even though the seller is from China, the parcel came from Singapore. For this pack you get 5 face brushes and 5 eye brushes, all shaped exactly like the Sigmax Kabuki range.
When I first unwrapped these brushes, they smelt awful! Like really really terrible. I didn't even want to touch it let alone rub it against my face. But luckily my brush cleaner took care of this and it no longer was a bother. I started to using the face brushes the very next day.
And being completely honest here, I can't tell the difference between these and my other make up brushes. The bristles are beautifully soft and blend in liquid foundation just like my Sigma and Real Techniques brushes. For US$17, I'm stoked!
I haven't used the eye brushes as they are quite large. It just wouldn't work for my lids as I have flat asian eye sockets which doesn't have too much surface area to work with. I can use them for under eye concealer and spot concealing as the bristles are very dense and can pack on product really well. The density also allows it to blend a small areas at a time very well. If you like strong, cream contouring, these brushes could also be used to draw a sharp line under your cheekbones before using a large brush to blend out the product.
Below are comparisons of Jessup brushes compared to Sigma and Real Techniques. As you can see from the photos, there really isn't much difference in appearance. And I can vouch that there is not much difference in feel between them either.

I like to hear reviews about trustworthy sellers and website which sell quality products as well and its always nice to collect some affordable brushes to add to your collection. They would be especially good for traveling and/or for your makeup kit if you are an MUA so you won't worry about ruining or losing them without having to compromise on the quality :)

ReplyDeleteHi Puck! The face brushes are definitely worth looking into. I have been using the smaller brushes for under eye concealing and spot concealing however I do find some of them to be a little scratchy especially for under the eyes where the skin is considerably thinner and more sensitive. I also use it for contouring on the sides of my nose as well as applying cream colour base on my eyelids before eyeshadow. So all in all i definitely think I got my money's worth hehe.
